Community Building

Our process is one that unifies communities and empowers their members by bringing them together to design, organize, and construct one-of-a-kind playgrounds and park structures. What sets these structures apart from commercially available playground equipment is the aesthetically sensitive architecture that respects the essence of the surrounding area and reflects its historical, architectural, and cultural features. What makes them treasured assets in their communities is the sense of pride, ownership, and accomplishment built into them by the hands of volunteers.

WHY

Cost Savings

Simply put, affordability—! You get a lot more bang for your buck. The value of the structure will be at least double its cost. We build projects for all budgets, and volunteer labor, as well as donated or discounted materials, add to your savings. We can also help you locate playground grants.

Community Pride

People of all ages and from all walks of life come together to build the structure. At the conclusion, there is an opening celebration, and everyone involved walks away with a sense of ownership and accomplishment

Flexibility of Design

Each of our designs is different and unique. You won’’t be choosing your playground components from a catalog. Our designs can incorporate architectural, historical, cultural and educational elements of the community. They can be natural play enviroments or based on a single theme. They can also integrate accessible components designed for wheelchair-bound children or those with other disabilities. We base our designs on your wishes, the site, and your budget.

Materials

Material options are flexible based on your budget. The most maintenance-friendly designs use structural plastic lumber along with recycled plastic composite lumber. We also use environmentally friendly and arsenic-free pressure-treated lumber. There are many types of safety surfacing options, all of which meet ASTM standards for impact attenuation and accessibility.

Safety

All designs are in compliance with ASTM International and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) standards and guidelines. They also meet the ADA’s accessibility guidelines. Our designers and builders are certified playground safety inspectors (CPSIs) by the National Recreation & Parks Association.

DEBUNKING THE MYTHS OF SITE-BUILT PLAYGROUNDS

Visibility:

Manufacturers will tell you that stick-built playgrounds are difficult to supervise due to poor visibility and lack of sight lines. Our designs can be as open as you want them to be.

Maintenance:

They also tell you that they require an enormous amount of maintenance. We build with structural plastic and plastic composite lumber, both of which are virtually maintenance-free. Safety surfacing— -on all playgrounds- —is the largest maintenance concern.

Warranty:

We are fully insured and guarantee that we comply with all federal guidelines and standards. We stand behind our product for the life of the project. The manufacturers of our specified materials and components carry their own warranties.

Safety and Accessibility:

All designs meet current ASTM and CPSC safety guidelines and the soon-to-be-released Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines. Safety surfacing also meets ASTM guidelines for impact attenuation and accessibility.
Age-appropriate: We design age and developmentally appropriate areas that avoid conflicting activities. Signs delineate areas for children aged 2 to 5 and for those aged 5 to 12. Playground rules signs include the need for adult supervision.
